Tinuom of Cabatuan

Last year, my friend Janelyn MaeTormon (a resident of Cabatuan) invited the whole “barkada” to visit their place. Her parents were so accommodating for they prepared a dish “Tinuom” for our dinner. And that was my first time to eat that kind of dish.

The ingredients of this Tinuom include marinated native chicken, potatoes seasoned with onions, ginger, tomatoes, lemon grass (tanglad), and wrapped in banana leaves. It usually served with broth that accumulates inside its wrapping following a heavy steaming. And it really tastes good.
But in my own opinion, Tinuom is savored like a “Tinolang Manok”. The only difference is Tinuom is cooked in banana leaves… He-he!

Cristine Reyes stranded on the roof of her house (updated)

FHM Sexiest Pinay 2009 awardee Ms. Cristine Reyes was trapped on her house at Provident Village in Marikina City. Her house was subsided by water due to this current calamity (Bagyong Ondoy). She was stranded on the roof of her house with her family since 1:00PM until and was rescued late at night.

These are her words as she cried for help in ABS-CBN. (SOURCE)

“Sana may dumating na rescue kasi kanina pa kami dito ng 1 p.m. Kapag hindi pa tumigil ang ulan aabutin na kami sa roof. Hindi ko alam anong gagawin namin,” Reyes said.

Reyes said that the flood already reached the second floor of their house, forcing them to move to the roof.

“Lagpas na ng puno. Nakarating na siya sa second floor. Pinasok na yung mga rooms namin, so konti na lang, dito na siya sa roof,” she said.

Reyes fears for the safety of her family as flood waters continue to rise because of incessant rains brought by the typhoon.

“Mommy ko kasi, hindi marunong mag swim at may kasama akong dalawang bata,” she said.

On the roof with the actress are her mother, a sibling, two children, household helpers and some neighbors.

“Mommy ko, pamangkin ko--dalawang bata--isang five years old at isang three years old. Tapos yung bunso namin, yung PA ko, yung maid namin, tapos driver tapos yung kapitbahay namin pumunta na dito sa roof namin kasi mataas yung house naming,”.

Mag-aso Falls Mountain Resort, Kabankalan City

I went to this resort with my Mom and her fellow teachers Mrs. Geronga (Ma’am Gina Desierdo), and Mrs. Ruth Tilog. The Mag-aso Falls Mountain Resort is located in Brgy. Uringao, Kabankalan City. The most attractions in this resort were their mini falls and the 75 foot falls that drop into the clear pool. It has also a swimming pool with a kiddie pool made for kids. Currently, the resort is in the process of development, and its entrance fee is only Php 25.00.
