The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will release the uniform resource locator (URL) of the website where election results will be directly posted on late Monday, a poll body official said.
Comelec Commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal said they decided to "delay" the release of the URL to lessen the possible incidents of hacking. The poll body had earlier said it will release the website address a day before the elections.
Larrazabal clarified, however, that problems with putting up the site were not the reason for the delay.
Smartmatic Asia president Cesar Flores said the website would supposedly be similar to that used by Venezuela in 2008.
Voting officially closes at 6 p.m. on Monday. The poll body said it expects to get about 70 percent of the results later in the day, which are expected to be posted on the website whose address has yet to be disclosed.
On the other hand, Larrazabal asked the public to be patient with the poll body's main website which has been encountering problems because of the traffic it has been receiving.
The website has an option where voters can search for their specific precincts.
For now, he said that voters can call the Comelec at the following numbers 527-0841, 527-2773, 527-2772, 527-0822, 526-7769, and 526-7770 to inquire about their precincts. — RSJ/LBG, GMANews.TV
